NEWPORT NEWS – Alice Murraie Baker Catron, 40, died Saturday, July 6, in Riverside Regional Medical Center.
She was a native of Tarboro, N.C. and a Peninsula resident most of her life.
She was a member of the Second Community Baptist Church and the director of the Junior Church. She was a nurse’s aide with Homemakers Upjohn.
Survivors include her husband, Jerry T. Catron Sr.; three daughters, Alice Elizabeth Cassell of Hampton, Lisa Anne Major of Hawaii, and Toni Frances Catron of Newport News; one son, Jerry Thomas Catron Jr. of Ft. Hood, Texas; her father and stepmother, Mr. and Mrs. Miles E. Baker Jr. of Smithfield; her mother and stepfather, Susan and Ralph Smith of Newton-Conover, N.C.; two half sisters, Susan Self of Claremont, N.C., and Becky Davis of Newton-Conover, N.C.; one brother, Miles E. Baker III of Hampton; four stepbrothers, Frankie Mayhew and Doug Mayhew, both of Newport News, Leonard Mayhew of Smithfield and Eddie Mayhew of Norfolk; her paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Miles E. Baker Sr. of Hampton; and three grandchildren.
A funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Peninsula Funeral Home by the Rev. T. Wayne Giles Sr. Burial will be in Parklawn Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Tuesday in Peninsula Funeral Home.
