Arthur B. Cardwell Jr.
Arthur B. Cardwell Jr., 79, of Fox Hill, died Sunday, Sept. 20, 1998. Born in Richmond, he had been a Hampton resident for 60 years.
Mr. Cardwell retired after 30 years of working civil service at Langley Air Force Base. He was a member of Wallace Memorial United Methodist Church, the Men’s Bible Class and the Fox Hill Volunteer Fire Department. He was a Navy veteran of World War II.
Mr. Cardwell is survived by his wife, Shirley Johnson Cardwell; his brother, Charles Daughtry of Fort Lauderdale, Fla.; his sisters-in-law, Margaret Johnson Powell and JoAnn Johnson Johnson, both of Fox Hill; and seven nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Monday at R. Hayden Smith Funeral Home in Hampton. A funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home chapel by the Rev. Ruth M. Burgess. Interment will follow in Clark Cemetery.
