BATTERY PARK – Arthur C. “Slim” Norsworthy, 82, died Wednesday, July 11, in his home.

A former resident of the Phoebus section of Hampton for 60 years, Mr. Norsworthy retired from NASA in 1973 after 34 years.

He was a member of Phoebus United Methodist Church, Hampton, where he was a trustee, a former Sunday school superintendent and a longtime member of the administrative board.

Survivors include his wife, Kathryn T. Norsworthy; a daughter, Debra N. Carpenter, and a stepson, Winslow Gresham, both of Hampton; a sister, Beulah R. Norsworthy of Newport News; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

A funeral will be conducted at 3 p.m. Saturday in the church by the Rev. Jeffrey A. Witt. Burial will be in Parklawn Memorial Park, Hampton.

The family will be at the home.

The family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of contributions to Phoebus United Methodist Church, 300 Mellen St., Hampton 23663 or the Phoebus Rescue Squad, South Hope Street, Hampton 23663.
