BERNARD S. VICTOR
NEWPORT NEWS – Bernard S. VIctor, 85, died Thursday, Aug. 8, in Riverside Regional Medical Center.
Mr. Victor was a native of New York City and a Peninsula resident for 63 years.
He was the former co-owner of Spooner’s Salvage and the former secretary-treasurer of Newport News Metal Corp. He was president of Paul’s Auto Parts.
He was a member of Adath Jeshurun Synagogue and the Hebrew Burial Society. He also belonged to the Warwick Masonic Lodge 336, Khedive Temple of the Shrine in Norfolk, Peninsula Shrine Club, Newport News Scottish Rite Bodies and was an honorary life member of the Elks.
Survivors include his wife, Edythe S. Victor; a daughter, Bernice Victor Smith of Newport News; a son, Irwin S. Victor of Newport News; a brother, Herman Victor of Brooklyn, N.Y.; and a grandchild.
A graveside service will be conducted at 9:30 a.m. today in the Hebrew Cemetery by Rabbi Elchanan Weinbach. The family will meet at a later date.
The family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of contributions to Beth-Shalom Home in Norfolk.
