BERNICE WOODMANSEE, HAMPTON CIVIC LEADER
Bernice B. Woodmansee, 50, long active with the PTA, a woman’s club and the Girl Scouts, died Thursday, Feb. 22, in Virginia Beach General Hospital.
Mrs. Woodmansee was immediate past president of the Hampton Council of PTAs and the Wythe Woman’s Club of Hampton. She served on the board of directors of the Hampton Roads chapter of the American Red Cross. She was director of the Heritage Girl Scouts Council and was active in the Willow Oaks Recreation Association and the Willow Oaks Garden Club.
She was a native of Hampton and a lifelong Peninsula resident. She graduated from Hampton High School and attended Averette College. She was a member of Memorial Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband, Glen T. Woodmansee; two daughters, Tamara W. Fluet and Michele Woodmansee; and a son, Glen T. Woodmansee Jr., all of Hampton; her mother, Bernice A. Barrack of Hampton; and two brothers, F.G. Barrack of Gloucester and R.C. Barrack of Lynchburg.
A funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday in the church by the Rev. Aubrey J. Rosser. Burial will be in Parklawn Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 tonight in Lawrence B. Wood Funeral Home and requests expressions of sympathy take the form of contributions to The American Cancer Society, 618 C, J. Clyde Morris Blvd., Newport News; or Memorial Baptist Church, 324 Newport News Ave., Hampton.
