BERTHA E. CARTER

HAMPTON – Bertha “Dee-Dee” Elliott Carter, 71, wife of the late Jack Carter, died Friday, Dec. 16, 1994, in Hinton, W.Va. She was a native of Fox Hill, where she lived for 69 years.

Mrs. Carter is survived by her daughter, Joyce Ann Lawrence of Pipestem, W.Va.; her son, Jack Carter Jr. of Hampton; her sisters, Gladys Allerton and Gloria Case, both of Hampton; her brother, Charles Elliott of Hampton; and four grandchildren.

The family will receive friends Monday night from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at R. Hayden Smith Funeral Home. A funeral service will be conducted 2 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 20, 1994, at the funeral home chapel by the Rev. George T. Insley. Burial will be in Greenlawn Cemetery.
