BERTHA P. COOKE
YORK – Bertha Perkins Cooke, 84, died Monday, March 27, in Riverside Regional Medical Center.
She was a native of Seaford and a lifelong resident of York County. She retired from the Billeting Office at Fort Eustis in 1969 after 20 years service.
She was a member of Grafton Baptist Church, Harris Grove, and its senior choir, Missionary Circle and Sunday School.
She was also a member of Household of Ruth Lodge, York County Chapter of Hampton University Alumni, Idle-A-While Senior Citizen Club and Rochambeau Citizen Group.
Survivors include one daughter, Alice C. Washington of Yorktown; one son, James E. Cooke also of Yorktown; and two grandchildren.
A funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday in Grafton Baptist Church, Harris Grove by the Rev. B.W. Morrison. Burial will follow in Grafton Baptist Church Cemetery. The body will be placed in church at 11 a.m. Saturday.
Family and friends will as semble at noon Saturday at 222 Old Wormley Creek Rd., Yorktown.
The family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of contributions to York County Rescue Squad or Grafton Baptist Church Building Fund.

YORK – A funeral for Bertha Perkins Cooke, 84, who died Monday, March 27, will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday in Grafton Baptist Church, Harris Grove by the Rev. B.W. Morrison. Burial will follow in Grafton Baptist Church Cemetery. The body will be placed in church at 11 a.m. Family and friends will assemble at 222 Old Wormley Creek Road, York town, by noon Saturday.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Friday in Gilmore’s Funeral Home.
The family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of contributions to York County Rescue Squad or Grafton Baptist Church Building Fund.
