BERTHA L. COOPER

NEWPORT NEWS – Bertha L. Cooper, 64, died Monday, Jan. 30, in Riverside Regional Convalescent Center.

She was a native of Newport News.

Survivors include one daughter, Angelique Clark of Hampton; two sons, Alfred Cooper Jr. and William E. Cooper, both of Hampton; five sisters, Edith Jones of Newport News, Ruth Moore of Pamona, Calif., Ollie Williams of San Bernadino, Calif., Daisy Lusk of Chicago, and Rosa Bass of Cherry Hill, N.J.; four brothers, Wesley Johnson of Philadelphia, Herbert Johnson of Newark, N.J., James Johnson and Clarence Johnson, both of Hampton; five grandchildren, and one great-grandchild.

A funeral will be conducted at noon Friday in United Church of God, Hampton, by the Rev. H.L. Newby. Burial will follow in Hampton University section of Hampton National Cemetery. The body will be placed in church at 10 a.m. Friday. Family and friends will assemble at 29 Rendon Drive, Hampton, by 11 a.m. Friday.

Franklin Funeral Home is in charge.
