CAROLYN E. ‘COOLIE’ CHEESEMAN WRIGHT
Carolyn E. ‘Coolie’ Cheeseman Wright peacefully answered the Master’s call on Sunday, April 6, 2008, in Mary Immaculate Hospital.
Her life began July 23, 1943, the daughter of the late Florence and Alfonza Cheeseman in the section of Newport News that was known as ‘The Colony.’ She was a lifelong resident of the area and a former member of Colossian Baptist Church. She attended Newport News Public Schools. She was a loving and caring person and she will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
She was also preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Wright; her sister, Thelma Grimes; her brother, Nathan Cheeseman; and two of her nephews, Ronald Greene and Adam Grimes.
She leaves to cherish her blessed memories, her sons, Curtis Wright (Wanda) of Richmond, Thomas Cheeseman (Ella) of Newport News and Curtis Nathan of Phoenix, Ariz.; her stepdaughter, Melanie Pierce of Newport News; her sisters, Florence Allen of Yorktown, Dorothy Greene (James), Alta Grimes (Reginald) and Gloria Brown (Willie Sr.), all of Newport News; her brothers, Robert Cheseman (Edith) and Steven Cheeseman, both of Newport News; her aunt, Louise Miller; her three grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other loving relatives and many caring friends.
A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, April 12, in Colossian Baptist Church with the Rev. Peter A. Evans and Elder Robert Allen officiating. Interment will follow in Masonic Burial Grounds. Family and friends will assemble by 10 a.m. Saturday at 722 Old Ft. Eustis Blvd. Mrs. Wright may be viewed from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday in the funeral home.
