SMITHFIELD – Carroll Thompson Wilson Sr., 50, died Saturday, Jan. 14, in his home.

He was born in Isle of Wight County and retired from civil service as a fireman.

He was post commander of American Legion Post No. 49 and vice commander of the Coast Guard Auxiliary. He was a board member of the Battery Park and Rescue Ruritan Clubs.

Survivors include one daughter, Christina I. Wilson of Smithfield; two sons, Carroll T. Wilson Jr. of Carrollton and Tony J. Wilson of Smithfield; his parents, Charles Cecil and Leah Crowley Wilson of Smithfield; two sisters, Mary Penn Wilson of Smithfield and Barbara Anne Wilson Richardson of Carrollton; one brother, Charles Herbert Wilson of Smithfield; and three grandchildren.

A funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday at Colonial Funeral Home Chapel by the Revs. Robert Cofield and Donald Watkins. Burial will be in St. Luke’s Memorial Park Cemetery, Smithfield.

The family will be at the residence.

The family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of contributions to the Isle of Wight Christmas Fund, P.O. Box 114, Smithfield 23430 or to the New Horizon Home for Adults, Rt. 1, Box 908, Smithfield 23430.

Colonial Funeral Home is in charge.
