Charles Howard Carter died Thursday, June 29, 2006 at Riverside Regional Convalescent Center where he was a long time resident. He was born November 19, 1945 in Newport News to Charles Hilton Carter and Della Poole Carter. He graduated from Warwick High School in 1963. After graduation he worked in the warehouse of Christopher Newport College. He went on to work for the Newport News Public Works Department and the Hampton Public Works Department. He was diagnosed with diabetes in his twenties which kept him from working. He was married to Cynthia Louise Wagner of Martinsville. He was a member of Christ United Methodist Church where he was proud of being an usher.

He is survived by his wife of 29 years, Cynthia Carter; his brothers and sisters-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Ferd L. Wagner of Sterling, Mr. and Mrs. John Wesley Wagner of Grafton and Mr. and Mrs. David and Mary Smucker of

West Chester, Pa. and his father-in-law, the Rev. Ferd Wagner of Martinsville.

A graveside service will be conducted 2 p.m. Wednesday, July 5 at Peninsula Memorial Park by the Rev. Jeff Cannon and the Rev. Ferd Wagner. Arrangements by Weymouth Funeral Home.
