CORNELIA B. WASHINGTON
WILLIAMSBURG – Cornelia Booker “Delia” Washington, 67, died Saturday, Jan. 5, in Williamsburg Community Hospital.
She was a lifelong resident of Williamsburg.
Mrs. Washington was a member of New Quarter Baptist Church, where she was a member of the Senior Choir and was program director. She also was a member of Twilight Gospel Singers and founder of R.J. Glemphs Singers.
Survivors include her husband, George Washington; three daughters, Christina Washington, Thelmond Thomas and Wertley Mickins, all of Williamsburg; nine sons, Reginald Washington and Hosea Washington, both of Washington, D.C., Jerome Washington of Lake Elsinore, Calif., Kershaw Washington of White Sands, N.M., George Washington, Ravye Washington, Jeffrey Washington, Christopher Washington and Joseph Washington, all of Williamsburg; and 23 grandchildren.
A funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Wednesday in New Quarter Baptist Church by the Rev. George Marrow. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The body will be placed in the church by 1 p.m. on Wednesday.
The viewing will be from 7 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Carter Funeral Home Denbigh Chapel. Family and friends will assemble by 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday at 170 Indian Circle, Williamsburg.
