DENVER COTTON

HAMPTON – Denver ”D.L.” Cotton, 62, a 33-year resident of the Peninsula, died Tuesday, Dec. 3.

Mr. Cotton was a former superintendent at Shaw Paint and Wallpaper Co., retiring in 1990 after 33 years of service. He was a native of Grantham, N.C.

Mr. Cotton was a member of Langley Baptist Church, where he served on the Pulpit Search Committee and the Budget and Finance Committee and as a deacon.

He was chairman of the Property and Grounds Committee for many years and was also a member of the Men’s Fellowship Sunday school class.

Survived by his wife, Marian J. Cotton; a daughter, Debbie C. Roscopf of Newport News; two sons, Jeff L. Cotton and Duane L. Cotton, at home; a sister, Estelle Britt of Wilmington, N.C.; and three granddaughters.

Visitation from 7 to 9 tonight at R. Hayden Smith Funeral Home. Funeral at 2 p.m. Friday at Langley Baptist Church by the Rev. Linwood Peterson.

Burial in Parklawn Memorial Park.
