HAMPTON – Donald Ray Crutchman Sr., 53, died Thursday, Dec. 28, in his home.

He was part owner of Crutchman Motor Corp. and a lifelong Peninsula resident.

He was a member of First Baptist Church, Newport News. He was a manager and player in the Newport News Softball League and a member of the Hampton Roads Relic Association.

Survivors include his spouse, Phyllis W. Crutchman; four daughters, Darlene C. Ingram, Zina C. Aldrich and Nova J. Crutchman, all of Hampton, and Rhonda C. Despinis of Newport News; one son, Donald Ray Crutchman Jr. of Newport News; two sisters, Connie A. Langley of Durham, N.C., and Debbie A. Reed of Hampton; four brothers, Jack W. Crutchman of Myrtle Beach, S.C., Lennie I. Alger of Poquoson and Ronnie L. Alger and Robbie D. Alger, both of Newport News; and 10 grandchildren.

A funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday in Peninsula Funeral Home, Newport News, by Dr. V. Allen Gaines. Burial will be in Parklawn Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 tonight in the funeral home.
