EDITH MITCHELL CYPHERS
Edith Mitchell Cyphers, 63, died Monday, Aug. 2, 1999, at her daughter’s home after a long, courageous battle with COPD. She was a native of Messick and a lifelong resident of Poquoson. Mrs. Cyphers was formerly employed as a machine operator at Siemens, retiring in 1996 after 25 years of service. She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church.
Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Donna Elaine Crofutt and Michael B. Crofutt of Poquoson; her son and his fiancee, Kenneth S Cyphers of Poquoson and Deborah Ferguson of Gloucester; eight grandchildren, Adam S. Cyphers of Poquoson, Justin, Krista, Lacey and Reagan Crofutt of Poquoson, Tyler S. Cyphers of Gloucester, and April and Justin Ferguson of Gloucester; two sisters, Marian M. Irby of Nathalie and Cora E. Fox of Miami; two brothers, Edward G. Mitchell of Miami and Jackie O. Mitchell of Poquoson; special friends, Kimberly Vinson of Korea, Bill and Peggy Comstock of Poquoson and Lee Holloway of Newport News. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles M. Cyphers.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug 4, at the W.J. Smith & Son Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 5, at the funeral home chapel with Buck Shackleford officiating. Burial will follow in Weston Cemetery.
