Baby dies from burns
Edith Wingfield Williams passes away at St. Francis Hospital
After lingering for a little more than two days, Edith Wingfield Williams, the seven-weeks-old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John D. Williams, or Portsmouth, died at the St. Francis Hospital about 8:30 o’clock Sunday night from the effects of burns about the face, head and arms received Friday morning. The crib in which the baby was sleeping caught fire in some mysterious way and the child was fatally hurt before she could be rescued by her grandmother.
The funeral took place at 2:30 o’clock yesterday afternoon at the Grace Episcopal Church. Rev. Robert H. Wright, the rector, conducted the services and interment was made in Greenlawn.
