Mrs. Wakefield Dies; Rites Sunday
Williamsburg, May 1, — Mrs. Esther Davis Wakefield, 35, died unexpectedly this morning at her home at 905 Jackson Drive, James Terrace. Funeral services will be at 4 P. M. Sunday at Grace Episcopal Church at Yorktown with interment in the church cemetery.
Officiating will be the Rev. Francis H. Craighill, Jr., pastor of Bruton Church in Williamsburg, assisted by the Rev. Neil Zabriskie, vicar of Grace Church at Yorktown. Active pallbearers will be W. L. Roberts, Lt. David D. Wakefield, William Foster Wakefield Jr., Harold K. Wakefield, T. H. Davis, T. H. Nicholson, G. Hunter Fletcher and Comdr. B. H. Shupper. Friends of the family will be honorary pallbearers.
Mrs. Wakefield is survived by her husband, Blair Pershing Wakefield and one daughter, Anne Randolph Wakefield; her parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. R. Davis of the Navy Mine Depot at Yorktown, three sisters, Mrs. R. J. Downey of Montgomery, Ala., Mrs. E. L. Foster of Arlington and Mrs. G. M. Larkin of Williamsburg, and two brothers, C. R. Davis of Suffolk and Midshipman R. W. Davis of Annapolis.
Mrs. Wakefield was a member of Bruton Parish Episcopal Church and an alumnus of the College of William and Mary, and had been a resident of Williamsburg and vicinity all her life.
