Etsy (Tony) Covato, 62, Copley Place, Newport News, owner and operator of Butler’s Barbecue, died Friday in Riverside Hospital.
A native of Braddock, Pa., he was a Newport News resident for 29 years, was a veteran of World War II and was a member of St. Jerome Catholic Church and Braxton Perkins Post #25, American Legion.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Elsie M. Covato; a daughter, Mrs. Jo Anne Louch of Hampton; his father, Alfonson Covato of Braddock; three brothers, Frank Covato, Anthony Covato and Jimmy Covato of Braddock; two sisters, Mrs. Rose Lovas of California and Mrs. Anna Rizzo of Braddock and two grandchildren.
Peninsula Funeral Home is in charge.
A wake service will be held at 8 p.m. Sunday in Peninsula Funeral Home.
A funeral mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Monday in St. Jerome Catholic Church by the Rev. Richard Dollard. Burial will be in Peninsula Memorial Park.
