HAMPTON – Florence Dorothy Copeland, 96, died Wednesday, July 2, 2003. A native and lifelong resident of Hampton, Miss Copeland was a member of First United Methodist Church and its Edith Spencer Sunday School Class. She had retired in 1965 from Fort Monroe after working many years as a clerk.

Miss Copeland is survived by her sister, Georgie Freeman; George Honeycutt, husband of her late niece, Margaret Honeycutt; great-nieces, Susan Hiltke and husband, Mike, and Katherine Steinke and husband, James; great-great niece, Emily Hiltke and great-great nephew, Nathan Hiltke.

A graveside service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday, July 6, at Clark Cemetery by the Rev. Henry B. Sudduth. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Saturday at R. Hayden Smith Funeral Home.

Memorial contributions may be sent to the First United Methodist Church Building Fund, 1 Salt Pond Rd, Hampton, 23664.
