FRANCES L. WHITESIDE

HAMPTON – Frances Louise Whiteside, 82, died Monday, March 26, in her home.

A native of Asheville, N.C., she was a Peninsula resident for 48 years.

She retired from Leggett Department Store as a salesperson in 1962 after 13 years of service.

She was a member of Noland Memorial United Methodist Church and its Norman Millar Sunday School Class, and a member of the Senior Citizens Bowling League at Newmarket Lanes.

Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Robert J. Wicker, and a son, Horace F. Whiteside Jr., both of Hampton; five grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

A funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday in the church by the Revs. Billy Johnson and Bill Clark. Burial will be in Parklawn Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 tonight in Peninsula Funeral Home and at other times at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Robert J. Wicker.

The family requests expressions of sympathy take the form of contributions to the Noland Memorial United Methodist Church Building Fund.
