FRED CLONTZ
HAMPTON – Fred Clontz, 79, died Monday, July 9, in Sentara Hampton General Hospital.
A native of Morganton, N.C., Mr. Clontz was a Peninsula resident since 1940. He retired as a welding department supervisor and instructor from Newport News Shipbuilding in 1973 after 34 years’service.
He was a member of Snow Hill United Methodist Church, Burke County, N.C.
Survivors include his wife, Rhesa Whisenant Clontz; one daughter, Doris Cammon of Hampton; one son, F. Dolan Clontz of York County; four grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday in Parklawn Memorial Park by the Rev. Donald Long.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 tonight in Peninsula Funeral Home.
The family requests expressions of sympathy take the form of contributions to Northampton Rescue Squad.
