GLADYS V. WINDER

HAMPTON – Gladys Virginia Winder, 80, a native of Warwick County, died Saturday, Oct. 26.

Mrs. Winder was a member of Ebenezer Baptist Church where she served on the Deaconess Board and Hospitality Committee and was a member of the Missionary Society and Senior Choir.

She was also a member of St. Mary’s Chapter 4 of Order of Eastern Star of York County and United Order of Tents, Southern District 1.

Mrs. Winder was also a retired service volunteer and a member of the Senior Citizens Group of Poquoson.

Survived by a daughter, Sadie Wilkins of Newport News; two stepdaughters, Louise W. Jones of Hampton and Lorraine W. Thomas of Yorktown; three stepsons, FLoyd Winder and James Winder of Hampton and Theodore Winder of Yorktown; a sister, Margaret Whiting of Newport News; five grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren.

Wake from 8 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Cooke Bros. Funeral Chapel, Newport News.

Funeral at noon Thursday at Ebenezer Baptist Church by the Rev. Walter Dean. Burial in church cemetery.

Body placed in church by 10 a.m. Assemble at 75 Wellesley Drive in Hidenwood, Newport News, by 11 a.m.
