GRANDIN S. VOUGHT
WILLIAMSBURG – Grandin S. Vought, 67, died Sunday, Feb. 22, 1998, at Williamsburg Community Hospital.
A native of Raleigh, N.C., Mr. Vought had been a longtime Peninsula resident. He had attended North Carolina State University and the University of North Carolina and was a veteran of the U.S. Army, 82nd Airborne Division, at Fort Bragg during World War II.
He spent a distinguished career in the shipbuilding industry, having worked for Newport News Shipbuilding; Seatrain Inc., New York, N.Y.; Belcher Oil, Miami, Fla.; Capital Marine, Chester, Pa.; and Tampa Shipyards, Tampa, Fla. He was a member of St. Martin’s Episcopal Church.
He is survived by his wife, Louise Blackwell Vought; two sons, William Grandin Vought III and Martin Schuyler, both of Gloucester; a daughter, Jennifer Ann Yackee of Miami, Fla.; and four grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, Feb. 25, at 2 p.m. at St. Martin’s Episcopal Church with the Rev. Pickett Miles officiating. The family will receive friends at home.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Building Fund at St. Martin’s Episcopal Church, 1333 Jamestown Road, Williamsburg, Va. 23185.
