HATTIE PAULINE NETTLES WILLIAMS
Hattie Pauline Nettles Williams was born on March 7, 1925, in York County, one of 10 children born to Saunders L. and Nannie Pauline Combs Nettles. On Aug. 11, 2008, Hattie entered into eternal life.
She and Daniel ‘Tabb’ Phillip Williams entered into marriage Dec. 23, 1952; Daniel preceded her in death on June 13, 1984. All of her schooling was in the county, and except for a brief stay in New York City, Hattie lived exclusively in York County.
She leaves to cherish her memory, sister, Etta N. Riley of Richmond (Tom- deceased); brothers, Eugene Nettles (Rev. Hattie) of Hampton, and Theodore ‘Bobby’ Nettles of Yorktown; devoted nieces, Barbara Harris (Ronald) of Hampton, and Carrie Riley Lindenfield (Brian) of Richmond; nephews, Linwood Jackson (Stephanie) of Yorktown, Alexander Nettles (Ronnie) of Hampton, Brian Bloodworth (Marilyn) of Nashville, Tenn.; devoted cousins, Shirley Combs Berga and Annette Combs Hopson; devoted niece-in-law, Sandra Slade Griffin (Ernest); numerous other nieces, nephews, cousins, grand-nephews, and grand-nieces; sisters-in-law, Estelle ‘Bea’ Williams Slade and Doris Williams Howard; and brothers-in-law, Willie Williams (Pearl) and Bernard Williams, all of Philadelphia, Pa.
Visitation will be from 7 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 14, at W. J. Smith & Son Funeral Home.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Aug. 15, at Zion Prospect Church with the Rev. Walter C. Johnson officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends after the interment in the fellowship hall.
The family thanks each of you for your prayers, thoughtfulness, and kindnesses rendered. God’s blessings upon all, and our thanks to God for Hattie’s life and the time shared with us.
