TOANO – Herbert White, 53, died Tuesday, Jan. 10, in Williamsburg Community Hospital.
A lifelong Toano resident, he retired as a truck driver for the City of Williamsburg in 1986.
He was a member of St. John Baptist Church, Toano.
Survivors include three daughters, Shelia Mason of Toano, Janice Mason of Wil liamsburg, and Annie Mae Mason of San Diego; five sons, Howard Mason of Toano, George Mason of Fort Hood, Tex., Tony Mason and Clovis Mason of Newport News, and Clyde Mason of Fort Polk, La.; his mother, Vivian White of Toano; six sisters, Lillie Mae Wallace and Rebecca Ann Cary, both of Toano, Pearline Cowles of Lightfoot, Gertie Hampton of Charles City, Caldonia White of Brooklyn, N.Y. and Marilyn Smith of Williamsburg; one brother, George White of West Point; and eight grandchildren.
A funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday in St. John Baptist Church by the Revs. Hezekiah James and Sylvester Diggs. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The body may be viewed from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at Whiting’s Funeral Home.
Family and friends will assemble by 1 p.m. Saturday at 8615 Richmond Rd.
