J. THURSTON WALLACE

J. Thurston Wallace, 81, died Monday, March 27, 2000.

Born in Fox Hill, he had been a lifelong resident of Hampton. He retired as an accountant for U.S. Tire in 1979 after 26 years.

Mr. Wallace was a member of Fox Hill Central United Methodist Church, Monitor Lodge No. 197 A.F. and A.M., Hampton Elks Lodge No. 366 B.P.O.E., American Legion Post No. 48 and the Fox Hill Volunteer Fire Department.

Mr. Wallace is survived by his wife, Jane J. Wallace; his son, Jesse T. Wallace Jr. of Hampton; his brothers, J. Severn Wallace and David H. Wallace, both of Hampton, and Reuben L. Wallace of Mechanicsville; four grandchildren, Jesse T. Wallace III, John R. Wallace, Jason L. Wallace and James A. Wallace; and a great-grandson, Ryan Wallace.

The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 9 p.m. Tuesday in the home of Jesse T. Wallace Jr. A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 29, in Clark Cemetery by the Rev. Robert W. Sharp.

The family requests that any memorial donations be made to the Clark Cemetery Fund, c/o Delbert B. Ligon, 20 Horton Road, Hampton, VA 23664.

Arrangements are provided by the R. Hayden Smith Funeral Home in Hampton.
