JACOB COPELAND

NEWPORT NEWS – Jacob Copeland, 68, died Wednesday, Dec. 5, in Riverside Regional Convalescent Center.

A native of Warwick County, he had been formerly employed in the Sanitation Department of Newport News and also at Campbell Soup Co., Camden, N.J., and Webb Janitorial Service.

He is survived by a daughter, Linda Carter of Manhattan, N.Y.; his mother, Fannie Mae Copeland of Newport News; two sisters, Helen Johnson of Newport News and Sylvia Cooper of Baltimore; three brothers, Henry Copeland and Melvin Copeland of Newport News and Leslie Copeland Jr. of Baltimore; and two grandsons.

A funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday at Colossian Baptist Church by the Rev. Irvin D. Melvin. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 tonight at Carter Funeral Home, Denbigh Chapel.

The family will assemble at 784 Shields Road by 12:30 p.m. Saturday.
