Jacob R. Worst, 79, died on Wednesday, March 8, 2000.

A native of Allegheny County, Pa., he was a longtime Peninsula resident. He was an Army veteran of World War II and attended Memorial Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Geraldine Riley Worst; a daughter, Anna Marie Worst; and a brother, William Worst. He is survived by his daughter, Louraine Worst Stoneman of Newport News, and his son, Barry Kent Worst of Winston-Salem, N.C; two brothers, Philip Beckert Worst and Raymond Henry Worst; one sister, Mable Rebecca Dreier; seven grandchildren, Cari Beasley, Catherine Worst, Richard C. Barlow, Ronald K. Barlow, Raymond J. Barlow, Kelley Stoneman and Crystal R. Stoneman; and five great-grandchildren.

A funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Sunday, March 12, at Lawrence B. Wood Funeral Home by the Rev. Wayne Harrison. Burial will follow in Parklawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. on Saturday, March 11, at the funeral home.

The family suggests that memorials take the form of contributions to the charity of one’s choice.
