Jamesetta “J.C.” Carter, 55, went home to be with the Lord early Thursday morning, Feb. 10, 2000, in Sentara Hampton General Hospital.

J.C. was born on Oct. 1, 1944, in Newport News. A resident of Hampton, she was reared by her mother and stepfather, Martha C. and Robert Tinsely, both deceased. J.C. was a 1967 graduate of Phenix High School and was employed at ATSC, Logistics Division at Fort Eustis.

She leaves to cherish her memory, her beloved son, D’ Juan Carter; one brother, James H. Tinsely; four grandchildren, Sean, Samory, Alexis and Simon; two aunts, Pearl Person and Lillie C. Darden; two uncles, James E. Brown of Norfolk and Daniel Brown of Williamsburg; her devoted cousin, L. Patricia Travis; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 15, at Gethsemane Baptist Church, 3509 Chestnut Ave., Newport News, with Pastor Dwight Riddick officiating.

Interment will follow in Hampton Memorial Gardens. Viewing will be from 2 to 7 p.m. on Monday at Cooke Bros. Funeral Chapel and two hours prior to the service Tuesday at the church.

Family and friends will assemble at 18 Mimosa Crescent, Hampton, by 12:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
