JEANIE L. COOK

YORKTOWN – Jeanie Lister Cook, 85, died Saturday, March 17, in York Convalescent Center.

A native of Perth, Scotland, Mrs. Cook was a Yorktown reident for 43 years. She was a registered nurse and graduated from Bellview Training School in New York City.

Mrs. Cook was a member of Grace Episcopal Church and was the president of The Women of the Church. She worked at Henry Street Settlement House, N.Y., and helped to found the first Girl Scout Troop in Yorktown. Mrs. Cook served for many years as historian for the Yorktown Chapter of the Association of the Preservation of Virginia Antiquities. She was a charter member of the Yorktown Women’s Club.

Survivors include two daughters, Margaret Cook and Janet C. Stephens, both of Yorktown; and two grandchildren.

A funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday in Grace Episcopal Church by the Rev. Carlton Bakkum. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

The family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of contributions to the Grace Episcopal Church Cemetery Fund. Amory Funeral Home, Grafton, is in charge.
