NEWPORT NEWS – Mrs. Jeannette Oser, 94, died on Sunday, July 14, 1996, at James River Convalescent Center. She was a native of Norfolk and a Peninsula resident for 74 years.
She was a lifelong partner in the Oser Brothers Shoe Store. She was a member of the Adath Jeshurun Synagogue and numerous community service groups, and was on the Board of Directors of the Beth Sholom Home.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Harry Oser. She is survived by one son, Dr. Beryl Oser of Newport News; two sisters, Miriam Zarefsky of Maryland and Hannah Cayton of Washington, D.C.; one brother, Bernard Lewis of Philadelphia, Pa.; three grandchildren, David Oser of Richmond, Steven Oser of Virginia Beach and Kenneth Oser of Milton, Fla.; and six great-grandchildren.
A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, July 16, in Hebrew Cemetery by Rabbi Norman Golner. The family will receive friends at the residence of Dr. Beryl Oser, 302 Corbin Drive, Newport News.
In lieu of flowers, family requests that memorials be made to the American Diabetes Association or a favorite charity.
