NEWPORT NEWS – Jerald Weinstein, 71, died Friday, Feb. 10, in Riverside Regional Medical Center.

A native of Newport News, he was a lifelong Peninsula resident.

A retired artist, he was a member of Adath Jeshurun Synagogue. He was a veteran of World War II.

Mr. Weinstein was known on the Peninsula as the “Heart Man”. He distributed his messages of love to patients, nurses and visitors in area hospitals for more than 40 years.

Survivors include one daughter, Judy Weinstein of Richmond; one son, Barry Weinstein of Columbia, S.C.; and one sister, Rose Donoff of Dayton, Ohio.

A funeral will be conducted at noon Monday at Adath Jeshurun Synagogue by Rabbi Michael Gurkov. Burial will be in Hebrew Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at Riverside Funeral Home.

The family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of contributions to the American Lung Association of Virginia, 732 Thimble Shoals Blvd., Newport News 23606 or to a favorite charity.
