John Thomas Williams entered into eternal rest on Thursday, Feb. 22, 2001. He was a lifelong resident of the Peninsula and resided in Newport News.

Mr. Williams retired from Newport News Shipbuilding as a foreman after over 45 years of service. He was a lifelong member of First Baptist Church-Morrison. He was a Thirty-Third Degree Mason of Yorkstar-Zedekiah Lodge No. 167 (Prince Hall) and a member of the Golden Link Chapter No. 89 O.E.S.

He is survived by his wife, Geneva H. Williams of Newport News; two daughters, Patricia P. Adams of Philadelphia, Pa., Maria Williams- Campbell and her husband, Timothy, of Newport News; William C. Williams of New York, N.Y.; two grandchildren, Mariaelena P. Apodaca and her husband, Frank, of Redwood City, Calif., and Ryan T. Campbell of Newport News; two nieces, Marcella E. Tucker of Newport News and Ruth M. Harper of Atlanta, Ga.; with a host of other relatives and friends.

A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 28, at First Baptist Church-Morrison with the Rev. Marcellus L. Harris Jr. officiating. Interment will follow with Masonic rites in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 27, at Cooke Bros. Funeral Chapel, Newport News, Va.
