L. C. Clark, 58, Dies in Hospital

Carrollton – Letcher Clyde Clark, 58, died unexpectedly Saturday in a Riverside Hospital after a short illness.

He was the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Richard T. Clark. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Lois Turner Clark; a daughter, Mrs. Ann C. Steinbach, Franklin; four sisters, Mrs. E. A. Frost of Prince George, Miss Virginia Clark of Colonia Heights, Mrs. Charles Guilford of Hopewell and Mrs. F. B. Raymer of Oakhill, FL; and a brother, the Rev. Ellis Clark of Sunbury, NC.

Mr. Clark was a native of Southampton County and had lived in Isle of Wight for more than 30 years. He was employed by the Newport News shipyard. He was a member of Smithfield Lodge No. 18, AF&AM, and Benn’s Methodist Church where he was secretary of the Men’s Bible Classes. He was a former member of the Carrolton Ruritan Club. He was an Army veteran.

Funeral services will be held Monday at 2:30pm in the Colonial Funeral Home in Smithfield, with the Rev. Phillips K. Foote of Benn’s Methodist church officiating. Burial will be in St. Luke’s Memorial Cemetery near Smithfield, with Masonic rites.
