HAMPTON – Lige Williams died Saturday, Feb. 17, in Sentara Hampton General Hospital.
Mr. Williams was a native of Waverly. He retired from Amstar Domino Sugar Refinery after 33 years as a machine operator. He was a member of Mt. Zion Apostolic Holiness Church, Willing Workers Club, and was called father of the church.
Survivors include his wife, Ella Williams; three daughters, Josephine Holloway of Portsmouth, Frances Walters of Hampton, and Joanne Williams Smith of New York; three sons, John Williams of Olathe, Kansas, and Elizah Williams of Datona Beach, Fla., and Ernest Williams of New York; 15 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
A funeral will be conducted at noon Thursday in Smith Brothers Funeral Home by the Rev. Buelah Dickerson. Burial will be in Green Lawn Cemetery, Newport News. Family and friends will assemble by 11:30 a.m. at the funeral home.
Viewing will be from noon to 6 tonight.
