LILLIAN R. CHATMAN

HAMPTON – Mrs. Lillian Robinson Chatman died Friday, Aug. 18, 1995.

She was the wife of Tinus A. Chatman; daughter of deceased parents, John and Viola Webster Robinson; mother of Henry L. Wilson Jr. of Hampton; sister of Mary T. Christian and Viola B. Brown, both of Hampton, and Madeline E. Lee of Camarillo, Calif.; and aunt of numerous nieces and nephews.

She was a member of First Baptist Church, Hampton, and its Christian Fellowship Choir, Women’s Auxiliary and chair of the Building Committee. Mrs. Chatman was the past president of the Hampton Women’s Service League, president of the Association of Historical Cemeteries and a member of the NAACP. She was a 1941 graduate of George P. Phenix High School and Apex Institute of Cosmetology in New York City.

A funeral service will be held at noon Tuesday at First Baptist Church, Hampton, by the Rev. Dr. William D. Booth. Interment in Bassette Cemetery. Mrs. Chatman will be placed in church by 10 a.m. Tuesday. Assemble at 1126 Gatling Drive by 11 a.m. Tuesday. Viewing will be from noon to 6 p.m. Monday at Ronald C. Perkins Funeral Home.

Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church Building Fund, 229 N. King St., Hampton, Va. 23669.
