HAMPTON – Lillie Banks Winston, 83, a lifelong Peninsula resident, died Saturday, Feb. 20.

A native of York County, she was a member of Bethel A.M.E. Church for more than 40 years. Mrs. Winston was a member of the church’s senior usher board and the missionary society. The Union Street High School graduate was a poll worker for the Democratic Party and a member of the Tuesday Evening Civic and Social Club and the Newtown Improvement and Civic Club.

Survived by three daughters, Anne W. Wallace of Portsmouth, Frankie M. Winston of University Heights, Ohio, and Lillie W. Bogan of Tallahassee, Fla.; two stepdaughters, Jane W. Boyd of Portsmouth and Joan W. Prescott of Hampton; seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Christian wake service from 7 to 8 tonight at Ronald C. Perkins Funeral Home. Funeral noon Wednesday at Bethel A.M.E. Church by the Revs. S.E. Hayward III and Anderson W. Clary Jr. Body placed in church by 10 a.m. Assemble at the church by 11:30 a.m. Burial in church cemetery.
