NEWPORT NEWS – Lloyd S. Wallace Sr., 72, died Friday, June 1, in Riverside Regional Medical Center.

A lifelong Newport News resident, Mr. Wallace retired from the Naval Weapons Station in Yorktown in 1978 after 37 years of service. He was a member of Colossian Baptist Church and its Men’s Chorus and Trustees Board. He was a Army veteran of World War II.

Survivors include his wife, Viola Wallace; a daughter, Matilda Parker of Newport News; a son, Lloyd S. Wallace Jr. of Gloucester; a sister, Viola Bennett of Newport News; a brother, Robert E. Wallace Sr.; eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.

A funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday in the church by the Rev. Irvin D. Melvin. Burial with military honors will be in the church cemetery.

Family and friends will assemble at 454 Richneck Road by 1 p.m. Tuesday. The body may be viewed from noon until 2 p.m. Tuesday in the church.

Whiting’s Funeral Home, Williamsburg, is in charge.
