LLOYD F. WILLIAMS SR.

Rev. Lloyd F. Williams Sr., 67, entered into eternal life on Thursday, Sept. 2, 1999, in Mary Immaculate Hospital. He was the youngest child born to the late Clarence and Mattie B. Williams of Williamsburg.

He was a devoted member of Colossian Baptist Church and he served his church faithfully as a son of the church. He retired as pastor of Zion Baptist Church in Lightfoot and Oak Grove Baptist Church in Williamsburg. He served these two churches for over 20 years. Under his leadership, both churches grew steadily and developed their programs.

He leaves to cherish his memories his loving and devoted wife, Vernell E. Williams; his son, Lloyd F. Williams Jr. of Newport News; his daughters, Cheryl Jackson of Atlanta, Ga., Daphne Mosley of Richmond, Gwendalena Lewis of Newport News; his son-in-law, Strother Mosley of Richmond; his brothers, Douglas O. Williams and Clarence E. Williams, and his wife, Francina, all of Williamsburg; his five grandchildren, his two great-grandchildren, his three aunts and a host of other loving relatives and caring friends.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Sept. 6, 1999, at Colossian Baptist Church with the Rev. Peter A. Evans, offing. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Family and friends will assemble at 498 Richneck Road by 10 a.m. on Monday. The body may be viewed in the church starting at 10 a.m. Monday. The family will receive friends at Zion Baptist Church, Lightfoot, from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Sunday at which time expressions may be given.
