NEWPORT NEWS – Lula Cephas, 65, died Tuesday, Jan. 17, in Riverside Regional Medical Center.

A native of Birmingham, Ala., she was a Williamsburg resident for many years and moved to Newport News in 1984.

She was a homemaker and member of Colossian Baptist Church.

Survivors include four daughters, Annie L. Taylor of Richmond, Edwina Z. Trabue of England, Patricia D. Taylor and Carol L. Cephas, both of Newport News; two sons, Edward Cephas III also of England and Roy Cephas of Germany; 17 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

A funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday in Colossian Baptist Church by the Rev. Irvin D. Melvin. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The body will be placed in church at noon Monday.

Family and friends will assemble at Heatherwood Apartments, Building 214, Apartment 18, by 1 p.m. Monday.

The body may be viewed from 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday at Whiting’s Funeral Home.
