Margarete R. Courtney, 83, passed away Friday, March 7, 2008, in Hampton.

A native of Munich, Germany, and 48-year resident of Hampton, she was a Store Manager of a Book and Card Store for 20 years until retiring in 1981. She was an avid Bingo player and loved to visit Atlantic City.

Margarete was preceded in rest by her husband, Charles Courtney; her mother, Maria Reiter; and father, Josef Voghtmonn.

She leaves behind to cherish her memory her son and daughter-in-law, Henry and Karen Courtney of Hampton; two grandchildren, David Courtney of Tucson, Ariz., and Jason Courtney of Hampton; two great-grandchildren, Devon Courtney of Hampton and Jaiden Courtney of Tucson; and many dear friends.

The family will receive friends from 5 to 6 p.m. Friday, March 14, at Parklawn-Wood Funeral Home, 2551 N. Armistead Ave., Hampton, where a celebration of life memorial service will follow at 6 p.m. Interment will be private at Hampton Memorial Gardens.

Friends are encouraged to visit to share words of comfort with the family.

Service arrangements are under the care of Parklawn-Wood Funeral Home, 2551 N. Armistead Ave., Hampton.
