MARIE T. CUTLER

Marie Theresa Cutler died Nov. 30, 2009.

She was a resident of The Chesapeake in Newport News; born in Philadelphia, and had been a resident of Hampton Roads since 1968, when Colonel Cutler was stationed at Langley Air Force Base.

A wonderful mother and grandmother, Marie took great joy in her family, especially her grandchildren. She had a love of antiques and enjoyed owning and running The Antique Cupboard in Hampton with her husband in the 1970’s. She enjoyed being an Air Force wife and was active in the officer’s wives bowling league at Langley until 2008.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Colonel William Cutler, U.S. Air Force, retired.

Survivors include her daughters, Cathy Cutler of Hampton, Nancy Bender and husband, Peter of Newport News, and Barbara Yearby and husband, Tony of Pinehurst, N.C.; sister, Genevieve Phillips and twin sister, Veronica Bodne, both of Philadelphia; as well as four granddaughters, Mandy Shealy and her husband, Tucker, Kelly Neil, Meredith Bender and Katherine Neil.

A funeral mass will be celebrated at 7 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 3, at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church, officiated by the Rev. Ken Wood. The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service. Burial will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 9, in Arlington National Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Social Ministry at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church, 100 Harpersville Road, Newport News, VA 23601.

Peninsula Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
