HAMPTON – Mattie C. Ward, 66, died Monday, Jan. 30, in DePaul Hospital, Norfolk.

She was a native of Hampton and member of Queen Street Baptist Church where she was senior choir president.

Survivors include six daughters, Bertha Hardy, Blanche Taliaferro, Eunice Ward, Beverly Beale, LaKisha McEachern and Shunaic McEachern, all of Hampton; four sons, Eugene Jarvis Jr. of Pittsburgh, Eugene Ward, William Carter and Darryl Jarvis, all of Hampton; one stepsister, Ann P. Jarvis of Hampton; two brothers, Pernell Brown and Clarence E. Jones, both of Hampton; and six grandchildren.

A funeral will be conducted at noon Friday in Queen Street Baptist Church by the Rev. James Riddick. Burial will follow in Hampton Memorial Gardens. The body will be placed in church at 10 a.m. Family and friends will assemble at 702 New York Avenue, Hampton, by 11 a.m. Friday.

The body may be viewed from 11 a.m. to 8 tonight in Ronald C. Perkins Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 tonight at the funeral home.
