MAUDE R. ODOM

Maude Rowe Odom died Sunday, Nov. 28, 1999. Born and raised in Fox Hill, she was the daughter of the late John Wesley and Hettie Belle Rowe.

As a lifelong resident of Hampton, she worked many years and later retired from food service with the Hampton City School System. She was a member of Fox Hill Central United Methodist Church and a former member of Fidelis and Larry Roberson Fellowship Sunday School classes. She also taught playschool at St. John’s Episcopal Church.

Mrs. Odom was preceded in death by her husband, Carl S. Odom. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Kurby and Duane “Skeet” DeBlasio of Williamsburg; her son, C. Wesley Odom of Hampton; her grandson and his wife, Darin and Penelope DeBlasio; her adopted daughter, Martha Payne of Tennessee; and many cousins, nieces and nephews. She also leaves a dear friend, Richard Dayton, and her faithful dog, Angel.

Friends will be received at 24 Shelton Road. A funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Fox Hill Central United Methodist Church by the Revs. Robert W. Sharp, Henry B. Sudduth and Joseph J. Majewski. Interment will follow in Clark Cemetery. The pallbearers are Carl Wallace, Wayne Wills, Richard Dayton, Marvin Griffin, Pete Raines and Ray Mingee.

Arrangements are being provided by R. Hayden Smith Funeral Home in Hampton.
