M. A. Whitacre

Maurice Allen Whitacre, 44, 101 Harris Lane, Yorktown, died Wednesday in Langley Air Force Base Hospital after a long illness.

He was a native of Winchester and retired from the Navy in 1973 after 23 years service.

Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Asako Onodera Whitacre; four daughters, Deloris, Beverley, Kimberly and Joan Whitacre, all of the home; his mother, Mrs. India J. Whitacre of Winchester; and one brother Radcliff Whitacre of Kentucky.

A funeral will be conducted at 3pm today in Amory Funeral Home, Grafton, by the Rev. Norman L. Blythe.

Burial, with full military honors, will be in Peninsula Memorial Park.
