Yorktown – Maurice Allen Whitaker, 44, 101 Harris Lane, died Wednesday in Langley Air Force Base Hospital after a long illness.

He was a native of Winchester and retired from the Navy in 1973 after 23 years service.

Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Asako Onodera Whitaker; four daughters, Misses Deloris K., Beverley H., Kimberly A., and Joan V. Whitaker, all at home; his mother, Mrs. India J. Whitaker of Winchester, and a brother, Radcliff Whitaker of KY.

A funeral will be conducted at 3pm Friday in Amory Funeral Home, Grafton, by the Rev. Norman L. Blythe.

Burial, with full military honors, will be in Peninsula Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 tonight a the funeral home.
