MIRIAM W. COALTER

NEWPORT NEWS – Miriam Warren Coalter, 72, died Monday, Oct. 22, at Riverside Regional Medical Center.

Mrs. Coalter was a native of Smithfield and a graduate of Elizabeth Buxton Hospital School of Nursing, class of 1940.

Mrs. Coalter was a retired registered nurse. She was a member of Ivy Memorial Baptist Church, Hampton.

Survivors include three daughters, Margaret C. McConnell and Carolyn C. Hawkins, both of Newport News, and Vicky J. Coalter of Frederick, Md.; one sister, Jean Warren Huber of Smithfield; four grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday at Ivy Memorial Baptist Church by the Rev. Gene C. Fant.

The family will receive friends at the residence from 7 to 9 tonight.

The family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of contributions to Riverside Regional Medical Center, Hospice Unit, 500 J. Clyde Morris Blvd., Newport News 23601, or American Diabetes Association, Peninsula Chapter, Box 863, Newport News 23607.
