NATHAN ‘BUD’ PIERCE WALKER

God gave him to us Jan. 10, 1974. He took him back on Feb. 10, 2008.

Bud served with the United States Marine Corps and had a deployment to Bosnia in the early 90s. While a Marine, the Igor Sikorsky Award was given during a Military Mast. He also gave helicopter service with the Army National Guard in Richmond.

He loved to fish, was a talented builder of furniture, and wrote thought inspiring poetry.

He was preceded in death by his beloved grandparents, Roy and Mabel Pierce of Conway, N.C., and Nathan Hyatt Walker Sr. of Hampton.

Surviving to cherish our memories of Bud are parents, Nathan Hyatt and Betty Pierce Walker; sister, Susan Walker Blanchard; nephews, Quinton and Marshall Blanchard; grandmother, Dorothy Walker; aunts, Martha and Ed Blanks and Carol and Tom Chestnutt, all of Williamsburg, and Phyllis and Don Rudd of Winterville, N.C.; and many cousins. Also, cherished cousin, Chris Chestnutt; faithful friend, Chris Obie; and godfather, James L. Lockwood Jr.

We thank all his friends and family who prayed for and supported him.

Memorials may be made to James City Bruton Volunteer Fire Department or VFW Post #4639 Honor Guard.

Memorial service to celebrate his life will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 17, at Hickory Neck Episcopal Church, Toano, Va.
