NICHOLAS A. DEATON JR.

SUFFOLK – Nicholas A. “Nick” Deaton Jr., 61, died this week in his home.

He was a lifelong area resident and a member of First Baptist Church.

A veteran of World War II, he retired as a general foreman of electronic shop no. 67 of Norfolk Naval Shipyard in 1982 after 37 years of service.

He was a 32nd degree mason and master mason and member of Suffolk Masonic Lodge No. 30 A.F.&A.M. and the Scottish Rite Bodies. He was also a member of AARP and 700 Club.

He is survived by one brother, James H. Deaton of Suffolk.

A funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday in Sidney F. Harrell Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. Charles W. Thomp son. Burial will follow in Holly Lawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at 306 Edward Avenue, Suffolk.
