OLEATTIA A. COWARD
HAMPTON – Oleattia A. Coward, 52, died on Thursday, Jan. 9, 2003, at her residence.
Mrs. Coward was a lifelong resident of Hampton and worked for 25 years for Newport News, Inc. She was a member of First Baptist Church East End where she served on the W.M. Brown Usher Board, Youth Ministry and the Bible Study Group. She graduated from George Washington Carver High School in 1968 and attended Norfolk State University and Peninsula Business College.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Mark and Eliza Evans.
Mrs. Coward leaves to cherish her memory two sons, Michael A. Sabb and wife, Walisa, of Richmond Hill, Ga., and Stanley L. Sabb of Hampton; one daughter, Brittney T. Coward of Hampton; two sisters, Agnes Thompson of Norfolk, Va., and Marie Evans of Newport News, Va.; four brothers, Lee Jenkins (Donna) of Cincinnati, Ohio, Lee Evans of Philadelphia, Pa., Leonard Evans and Bernard Evans (Sabrina), both of Newport News, Va.; four grandchildren, DaQwane, Martinique, Makaiah, and Micah; and a host of other family and friends.
Viewing was held at 1 p.m. Monday until a wake service from 7 to 8 p.m. at Cooke Bros. Funeral Chapel. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 14, at First Baptist Church East End. Interment will follow in Hampton Memorial Gardens. Mrs. Coward will be placed in the church by noon Tuesday.
